PM contacts political leaders over Egypt moot
Sunday, 07.12.2009, 11:10pm (GMT+5)

Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Sunday telephoned PML-N Quaid Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif and the leaders of major political parties in the country and took them into confidence regarding his upcoming meeting with the Indian counterpart Manmohan Sindh on the sidelines of NAM Summit in Egypt.

Mian Nawaz Sharif assured the Prime Minister of his party's full support to the government on Pakistan's stance and the need for resolving all outstanding issues confronting India and Pakistan peacefully through talks.

The other political leaders whom the Prime Minister telephoned included Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain (PML-Q), Altaf Hussain (MQM chief), Asfandyar Wali Khan (ANP), Pir Pagara (PML-F), Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebaad, Liaquat Baloch (Jamaat-e-Islami), Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri (JUI), Munir Orakzai (Parliamentary leader of FATA), Mehmood Khan Achakzai (PKMAP), Farooq Sattar (MQM Parliamentary leader and federal minister) and Imran Khan (PTI).

It is pertinent to mention here that the PM contacted Ghafoor Haideri as the head of JUI, Maulana Fazlur Rehman at present is out of the country.

Gilani is leaving on Tuesday to represent Pakistan at NAM summit and will hold talks with the Indian leader on July 16 in a bid to restart the stalled peace process.
